Stella Maris Inter College

The history of Stella Maris Inter College goes back to 1988 when the Bishop of Lucknow, Most Rev Alan de' Lastic sent an invitation to Rev. Sister Jane, the then Superior General of the Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady of Graces to open a School in Lucknow. With the help of Rev. Fr. Antony D'Souza, the Vicar General of the Diocese, we were able to buy a prized plot of land for the new School from the Lucknow Development Authority. The foundation stone for Stella Maris School was laid on March 12, 1992 by Rev. Fr. Albert Goveas. Registration of Admission to the new School was started on April 1, 1992. Rev. Sister Cecilia was the pioneer Principal. Sister Daisy, Sister Christina, Mrs. Lucy Marshall and Mrs. Amarjit Kaur were the first teachers. Rev. Sister Cecilia guided the infant institution with great foresight and vision for a period of six years. She saw to the construction of the first phase of the school building. On 16th July 1992, on the feast of Mother Mary, the school session began with 125 students who entered the precincts of Stella Maris. In June 1998 Rev. Sister Pushpa was appointed Manager and Principal. She nurtured the institution for a period of 3 years with great dedication and commitment. It was during her tenure that the successful completion of the main block of the School building was accomplished. On March 17, 2001 it was inaugurated by Rev. Sister Matilda, the then Superior General and blessed by Most Rev. Albert D'Souza, the Bishop of Lucknow.
