65+ Best Class 8 Schools in St. Thomas Mount, Chennai 2027-28

Class 8 is the last year before the high-stakes Class 9–10 board-exam cycle begins, and it's one of the most popular transfer years for a clear reason: parents want to lock in the right school before Class 9 defines the board and stream trajectory. Schools with a strong Class 9–12 track record see the highest demand at Class 8 lateral entry. Most schools conduct a written entrance test for Class 8 lateral admissions — typically English, Mathematics and Science — to assess whether the candidate can handle their Class 9 curriculum. Transfer at this stage requires careful timing: completing the TC process before April ensures minimal disruption. Annual fees at Class 8 may differ from lower classes at the same school — some schools restructure fees at the secondary level.
