65+ Best Class 4 Schools in IIT Madras Campus, Chennai 2027-28

Class 4 is a mid-primary year with no major board transition, making it a practical time for families to move schools if something isn't working. Lateral transfers at Class 4 follow the standard process: TC from the current school, Class 3 mark sheet, and an informal interaction. The academic gap between different schools starts to become visible by Class 4 — if you're moving from a less rigorous to a more rigorous school, factor in a 2–3 month adjustment period for your child. Schools with a strong Class 5 exit assessment (for middle school entry) tend to intensify teaching in Classes 4–5, so ask about this before selecting. Annual fees at Class 4 are usually in the same band as other primary years — but add-on charges (activity, tech, lab) can vary significantly.
