Class 10 lateral transfers are rare for good reason — board exams happen at the end of this year, and switching schools mid-board cycle carries real academic risk. CBSE and ICSE boards have specific rules about mid-year registration changes; verify directly with the board before initiating a transfer. That said, transfers do happen: families relocating cities have no choice, and a few schools accept Class 10 transfers for students who moved after April. If the transfer is unavoidable, ensure the board registration is carried over correctly — a lapse here can affect the student's Class 10 result. Schools that do accept Class 10 transfers usually assess the candidate and decide case-by-case rather than through a formal admissions round.

It is possible but complex. CBSE and ICSE have specific rules about board registration — a mid-year change can affect the student's roll number and result. If the transfer is unavoidable (e.g. relocation), act before April and verify the board registration continuity with both schools.
